minutesSometimes a smoothie without bananas is what you need. With mixed berries and peanut butter, the PB&J shake deserves a place in the smoothie and shake hall of fame. We’d argue it’s better than a peanut butter and jelly sandwich and is one of the only protein shakes you ever need.
1 cup (240 ml) unsweetened milk of choice
ยฝ cup (65g) frozen blueberries
ยฝ cup (65g) frozen strawberries
1 tablespoon (20g) natural peanut butter
1 scoop (30g) protein powder (optional)
1 tablespoon (7.5g) flaxseed (optional)
This was a definite winner for me! Love PB&J and this shake was very filling. I was able to have it very early in the morning before work and was full right up until lunch.
I swapped out the PB for PB2 to save myself some calories!
What kind of protein powder do you use? Any recommendation? I have never bought any and would love some guidance as I’m sure some are better than others.
Is your almond milk sweetened?
If you use peanuts do you also use 1 tbsp? Are they unsalted?
I’m going to try this recipe once I get my Vitamix.
Thank you!
Can you add egg whites as an addition to your protein shake, if you are also using protein powder? Or will you explode from protein overdrive?
Go for it. Just listen to your body afterwards.
Have you ever tried changing the peanut butter for pb2?
Never tried pb2 — usually prefer whole food versions if I can get it.
