Slow-Baked Peach and Mango Fruit Leather
Fruit leather is one of the few packaged snacks that gets meaningfully better when you make it at home, mostly because there is nothing in it but fruit. Four cups of peaches and mango go into the blender with a little maple syrup and lemon juice, get spread thin across a sheet pan, and then spend the afternoon in a barely warm oven while you do something else. No dehydrator required. Be honest about the math, though: four cups of good summer fruit cooks down to one thin sheet, so this is not the most efficient use of a great peach. What you get in trade is a snack that keeps for weeks, rides in a jacket pocket on a hike, and contains no corn syrup or dye. Late-summer stone fruit is the natural window, but frozen fruit works year-round and saves you the peeling.
