Add the frozen banana and mango to your Vitamix, then pour in the milk. Put the lid on and make sure the tamper is in hand.

Start on low and ramp up to high speed. Use the tamper to push the frozen fruit down into the blades — it’ll be thick and resistant at first, which is exactly right. Blend until smooth and creamy, about 30–45 seconds total.

Serve right away for soft-serve texture. For firmer scoops, scrape into a container and freeze for 30–60 minutes.

Recipe is configured for a 48-ounce container. If you’re using a low-profile 64-ounce (wide body), make a 1.5 or double batch.
The tamper is non-negotiable here — without it you’ll be tempted to add too much liquid and end up with a smoothie. Use the tamper to gently push ingredients down into the blade. If you’re on high speed, you’re good – your machine is made to handle this task.
Frozen fruit sweetness varies a lot by brand; taste before serving and add a small squeeze of lime or a drizzle of honey if it needs a lift. Leftovers freeze well but will get hard — let them sit at room temp for 5 minutes before scooping.
